Completed editorial overhaul: 12 October 2026. Website v1.38.0 WIP, not deployed.
Main change
Cognitive liberty is the right to hear and be heard. The visible site now invites people to ask questions, create original work, publish and link to it, explore minority ideas, contribute voluntarily to the shared knowledge that AI may be able to retrieve or learn from, and hold search/AI discovery systems accountable. The central concern is self-silencing and lost public participation, not privacy-first withdrawal.
Updated public pages and documents
- Homepage headline and participation-first calls to action.
- 20-article charter: explicit right to hear and be heard, practical next steps; all 20 existing articles and 24 safeguards retained.
- Updated portable charter Markdown in
assets/downloads/cognitive-liberty-charter-2026.md. - New
/right-to-hear-and-be-heard: full affirmative case. - New
/share-your-voice: practical publishing, citation, linking and seven-day contribution challenge. - New
/ai-knowledge-diversity: technical training/retrieval/answer distinctions and coverage measures. - New
/algorithmic-shadowbanning: reproducible six-step exclusion diagnosis and appeal. - Shared header mission across all public routes, supporting explanation in the 48 historical published research guides, and an explicit mission preface across modern research editions.
- Definition, thought-diversity hub, site footer, machine-readable discovery files, sitemap, FAQ, subject-specific legacy safeguards pages and project instructions updated.
- Site branding and favicon from uploaded official logo retained.
Included earlier research documents
The 10 original additional research versions in Markdown and the matching 10 PDFs are retained under docs/long-term-memory/research/positive-liberty-2026/additional-2026-versions/. Earlier uploaded supplemental investigations and the rest of the integrated research remain present. Historical evidence records, source custody, supplied PDFs and verification toolkits were deliberately not rewritten: preserve original provenance rather than misattributing new language to source authors.
Comprehensive document inventory
The PARTICIPATION_FILE_AUDIT.json inventories every file, distinguishes editorial/public, historical/source custody, and tooling. Its figures were recorded before adding the two audit files. Baseline ZIP: 1057 entries. Original entries preserved: 1057. Byte-identical at audit time: 1036. Original report additions: 10 Markdown + 10 PDFs. Modern content is reframed via shared renderers without changing protected originals. Search expressions over privacy words are topical indicators, not a measure of the site's message.
Validation
- PASS inherited
tests/validate_site.py: 149 canonical public routes, 15,725 internal-link checks including 5,233 fragment checks; 175 PHP files linted; all 28 deterministic tool commands passed. - PASS
tests/charter_2026_validation.py: all original 20 articles, 24 inherited safeguards and portable Markdown. - PASS
tests/official_logo_validation.py: exact user-supplied official logo and derived favicons/social assets. - PASS full ZIP integrity and SHA256 verification for each of 1065 packaged files. ZIP file size: 76,156,633 bytes.
- PASS clean extraction and independent sample byte verification.
The extensive separate end-to-end browser/Apache/regression release suites have not all been rerun on this specific ZIP. Clean extraction integrity does not confer production approval. Missing historical accepted 1.20 custody chain and version 1.38.0 WIP status remain unchanged. No deployment, real AI training audit, or live search-engine suppression study was performed.
Important accuracy boundaries
An absent result is not necessarily a deliberate shadowban; check crawling, indexing, relevance, policy and retrieval first. Source visibility is not endorsement or equal credibility. Publishing material does not guarantee that an AI model will train on it, retrieve it, or cite it. Calls for contribution are voluntary, not demands for compulsory exposure.
